Useful Tips |
| Safety - by Bella from Huntingdonshire UK |
| Malaysians are generally very friendly but they're something else behind the wheel of a car. Take when driving in Penang, drivers don't yield and scooters dashing in front of your car from left and right are a super menace and danger. |
Penang Overview |
| One of Malaysia’s foremost tourist destinations and one of the most famous islands in Asia, Penang has lured people to its palm wreathed beaches and sunny climes for centuries. Stilt houses
marching out to sea, fragrant Indian curries, and Chinese temples blend in an exotic melange of sights, sounds, and scents that intrigue and excite the senses. |

Penang Essentials |
Old Georgetown – Old churches, historical 19th century buildings, and one of the most curious waterfronts in Asia consisting of villages built on stilts, make this a must-see destination.
Kuan Yin Temple– The oldest Chinese temple in Penang, dedicated to the Buddhist deity Kuan Yin and symbolising mercy, is one of the most popular temples in the area.
Kapitan Kling Mosque – A Muslim mosque built in 1800, it is the oldest mosque in the state and stands in striking contrast to the Chinese temple nearby.
The Leong San Tong Khoo Kongesi – This kongesi (clan house) is so lavishly ornamental that visitors are totally overwhelmed by the fantastic dragons, fairies, and guardian gods decorating
it.
Batu Ferrnghi – Luxury hotels line the beach on the North shore of the island and guests ride horses, sail, hike, or just laze on the long stretches of white sand.
